Narrow, hollow, round stems arise from the familiar fleshy tuber of oriental food fame. Culms grow to 2 feet tall in the right spot. One plant will produce several bulbs in the fall. Winter dormant.

Obedient Plant is happy in either sunny or lightly shaded spots, but it does best with some shade on drier sites, and full sun where it is wetter. Narrow green leaves with tall showy flower spikes of pale lavender-pink flowers. Native to eastern North America. USDA ZONES 3-9

Also called Viginia Salt Marsh Mallow, or Sweat Weed. Grows to 1.5-4' tall. 1.5-2.5" pink flowers resemble a hibiscus. Flowers early summer into the fall. This seashore mallow is a salt-tolerant plant, often growing in places other plants can't.

IFP Mud Midget - Wolffiella floridans

Mud-midget, native to Florida, is another small duckweed, but this one has narrow, elongated fronds. Mud-midget plants float just beneath the surface of the water. This is an excellent plant for shading water, using up free nutrients in the water, or for feeding certain herbivorous fish. One portion is approximately the volume of a 1 ounce measure.

Flowers float on the water and have the pleasant odor of apple blossoms. With it's moderate growth rate and comparatively small leaf area, this lily is well suited to tubs and small ponds.
